MEMORIAL GARDEN

The parish church of St John has established a memorial garden for the interment of cremated remains. This garden is open tp people of all Christian denominations seeking a sense of history, heritage and serenity.

This is a very beautiful area of the Adelaide Hills. The site is very historic as the State Heritage listed church is in excess of 150 years old. It’s history also includes a long participation by the Governors of South Australia when they were resident at the Marble Hill Vice-regal summer residence.

The garden was consecrated by The Right Reverend Denise Ferguson, then Assistant Bishop of Adelaide, on Sunday 30th April 2023.

The Parish Council has decided that the term of interment will be “in perpetuity” so there will be no renewal requests once ashes are interred. It is important that the remains will be interred in the ground, not in a wall niche.

There is a section of the garden planted with local native plants into which ashes may be scattered (not interred) for no cost, however full records will still be kept of such occurrences.
